In order to ensure the safety of our children and community members from the mosquito borne Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) virus, Sudbury Youth Soccer will modify their practice/game schedules this fall.

Now that town-wide road and aerial spraying for mosquitoes has been accomplished, outdoor soccer activities have resumed. We will now be following the guidelines set forth by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and ending soccer practices and games ahead of dusk.

Practice and game times will be adjusted accordingly and are listed below as we continue to lose daylight throughout the fall soccer season.

In addition, we encourage you to apply bug spray to your children prior to practices and games. According to the Massachusetts Department of Public Health, EPA-registered bug repellent’s containing DEET, Picaridin or oil of lemon eucalyptus should be used on the skin.

With the increased risk associated with EEE, we are adjusting our evening end times per the schedule below.

  • Week of Sept 16 practice ends by 7pm
  • Week of Sept 23rd practice ends by 6:45pm
  • Week of Sept 30th practice ends by 6:30pm
  • Week of Oct 7th practice ends by 6:15pm
  • Week of Oct 14th practice ends by 6pm, or until dark if we had first frost
  • Week of Oct 21st practice ends by 6pm, or until dark if we had first frost
  • Week of Oct 28th practice ends by 5:45pm, or until dark if we had first frost
  • Week of Nov 4th practice ends as this is after time change, so sunset is 4:30, so likely no practice at all?
