Players in the girls Sudbury Soccer League (SSL) will compete this weekend in the SSL Tournament beginning at 9:00 am on Saturday at Haskell Field. Above, a player from the Panthers practices in preparation for the tournament. The Panthers (girls U9/U10) enter the tournament with the league’s top seed – but will face tough competition from the Thunder, Whales, and Minions.

The U12 Gunners started the JSSA tournament playing some of their best soccer of the year. Their effort lead to playoffs qualification as a 2 seed from a very difficult group and set-up an all Sudbury derby with the U12 United. Fabulous soccer by both squads, but it was the Gunners that emerged with the 1-0 victory and the ticket to the finals. Congrats to all the players, coaches and parents.
With the girls taking three runner up medals, the boys had their work cut out. The U12 United did one better. They fought hard through the John Smith Memorial Day Tournament and took first place. Congrats to all the players, coaches and ever supporting parents.
SYSA is still looking for stories from any other teams that participated in tournaments this weekend. Please send photos and highlights to Chris at firstname.lastname@example.org
Eight Academy Squads teams entered the John Smith Memorial Day Tournament in Devens. At the midpoint, success has already been declared. The U18 Girls rallied from 3-0 down to force extra time and win their semi-final game on PKs. A tough loss in the finals still earned them runner up medals. The U14 Girls finished in second place in a stacked bracket loaded with quality club teams. The U12 Girls Gunners eliminated the U12 United in the semi-finals on their way to also earning a runner up medal. That is three medals out of the first four teams and one intersquad derby. Congrats to all players and coaches for a great effort. Now let's see what the boys can do!

The Revolution Academy is one of the most innovative youth training programs in Major League Soccer, recognized by U.S. Soccer as one of the top 10 youth development programs in the country. The Revolution Academy trains players of all abilities in every aspect of the game, including ball mastery, speed of play, coordination and balance and movement with and without the ball.
The objective of the training programs is to replicate the speed, tempo and environment of the Revolution Youth Teams’ training sessions. Through the age-appropriate coaching, we foster an atmosphere that is competitive, challenging, demanding and fun. Encouragement and support from our professional coaches allows every player to gain a better understanding of – and continued passion for – the game.
