Save the date for the Fall season's New Soccer Coaches Meeting. It will be at the Grange Hall at 7 pm on Wednesday August 31st.
This is a required meeting for all those who have not coached with SYSA before. See you there.
The Fall Gear Distribution Day for coaches was August 20th.
If you cannot pick up equipment on the 20th or need equipment before then, please email Andy & Ailsa at email@example.com so alternate arrangements can be made.
We are four years in with our current kit. That is one more year than we originally expected. Going forward, all SYSA BAYS teams will don the new UnderArmour Maquina kit. SYSA elected to keep the red top, blue short, and blue sock combo with our families in mind. Players can continue to wear the current blue short and blue sock.
All kits must be ordered online. They are available now for order at Brines' Teamsport site.
Sudbury Youth Soccer tries to accommodate all players in town through varying ability levels. We take care in recommending ideal roster sizes to achieve maximum playing time while giving equal playing time to all.
Goal: Each player will have at least 60% playing time. There will also be at least three subs at 3v3 and 4v4 between both teams, three subs at 7v7 and 9v9, and four subs at 11v11
K roster (3v3): 11 = 55% playing time, 10 = 60%, 9 = 67%
Recommendation 9-10, with 9 being ideal
1/2 roster (4v4): 14 = 57%, 13 = 61%, 12 = 67%, 11 = 73%
Recommendation 11-13, with 12 being ideal
US Soccer have made a significant change to how it forms teams to unify all states and all clubs into one, consistent system. The changes must come into effect for January 1, 2017.
Each state organization, in our case MYSA, provided its town leagues with the opportunity to change how it currently configures teams or not.
BAYS have decided to change its configuration to play by birth year AND grade. This means, rather than allowing only players born on or after August 1 to make a particular team without restriction, it now allows players born on or after January 1 to play on the team providing they are in the given grade.
Now is the perfect time to start breaking those new soccer boots in before the Fall season. It is also a great time to clean out the closets and donate your gently used cleats and shin guards to the SYSA Soccer Gear Drive for our friends at South End Soccer. Donations can be made at Brines' Sporting Goods. Anyone who donates a pair of cleats will receive 20% off of a new pair at Brines as well. It is certainly a win-win for everyone.
