Last year SYSA launched the Skills Academy Video Vault created by our own Ross Duncan and starring some of SYSA's very talented soccer players. These videos highlight different moves that all advanced soccer players need to know. Supplement your on field training with these videos. Once mastered, these skills will leave your competition in the dust while exciting the crowds. These videos are a great way to stay sharp over the winter months!

Coach Ross recommends his favorite video Across the Ball!

We Are What We Eat
Insights on nutrition from

We train for games, but are we really prepared? Besides strength and foot skills, we need the right amount of rest. Players need to be fully charged and that includes having enough energy to last the whole game. US Youth Soccer has addressed the question of what to eat ahead of a match.

Exciting Winter Skills Offerings

Kicks for CancerWhat better way to stave off cabin fever by keeping your soccer skills going all winter? SYSA, in partnership with the FieldHouse, is excited to offer three great programs. The first is training with the NE Revolution Academy coaches through the Skills Academy. This is a technical session designed to improve player footwork. The second program is the ever popular Futsal program. The newest program is our U7&U8 Super Sunday session. Click here to learn more about all three programs.

New Sudbury Soccer League (SSL) Takes Off

U9 & U10 Players to Compete in Sudbury’s First SSL Tournament on Nov. 9th

SSL PlayerPlayer development, Revolution-led training sessions, and a year-end Sudbury tournament are all features of SYSA’s new Sudbury Soccer League (SSL).

In its first season, the SSL experienced rapid growth as more than 80 players joined the league. These players will compete in the first-ever SSL tournament at the end of the fall season.

Ross Duncan from the New England Revolution and Sudbury Soccer’s Technical Director said, “The new Sudbury League finally gives parents and players the high level of training and development they want but, without the weekend travel associated with the BAYS league. Third and fourth grade girls and boys of all skill levels can now train twice a week and play in Sudbury on weekends, all with the exact same training and coaching we provide our BAYS players.”

Registration for the Spring SSL will begin on November 18th. For additional information about the Sudbury Soccer League, please visit the SYSA website or contact Ross Duncan or any member of the SYSA Board.

LSRHS Soccer Bound for District Playoffs

Both the LSRHS Girls’ and Boy’s programs are having great seasons. The Boy’s captured the DCL Large crown and an 8th seed in the upcoming MIAA District tournament. Their first game will be played at home on Sunday 11/3 at 1pm against Brookline. The Girl’s squad took second in the DCL Large and earned the 9th seed with their 10-3-4 record. Their opening game is away to Lexington on Friday 11/1 at 2 pm. LS beat them 4-3 earlier in the season. These are great opportunities to support our local players as they make their run at a State Championship.

SYSA Ball Girls

Extra thanks go out to the SYSA teams that contributed as ball girls and boys this season. Pictured above are volunteer girls from the Smashers and the Swarm. We will be looking for more volunteer squads to help with the games next Fall. This is a great chance to connect our youth players with the action that goes on at the HS varsity level.
